Critical Role Season Four Unveils the Warriors Table

Ever since the premiere of the fourth campaign, new Dungeon Master Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with deep backstory, a colorful mix of personalities, and a exciting storyline including divine entities, evil spirits, and sinister influences expanding in strength within the city.

Warning: Spoilers for the third episode of this adventure follow below.

The Combat-Oriented Party Introduced

Episode 3 finished on a huge suspense moment and presented the initial group of characters who will split off from the central cast to undertake their independent quest, apart from the remaining groups.

The Soldiers table features the determined fighter (portrayed by Travis), the nimble rogue (Laura), the fierce warrior (the cast member), the cleric (Sam), and Kattigan (Robbie).

Why Split the Party?

Considering a large ensemble, it was obvious from the start that keeping everyone at the same party would be unfeasible.

This explains, the first four episodes of Campaign 4 serve as an Overture, weaving together the individual narratives before branching into three separate parties: Soldiers, Schemers, and Explorers.

Characteristics of the Soldiers Table

Per Brennan Lee Mulligan, the warrior group is for adventurers who enjoy a typically action-packed battle-oriented story mode where non-violent answers are scarce.

Upon first impression, figures such as the reluctant priest Wicander Halovar might look mismatched, but the events of episode 3 make it clear why these specific adventurers are ideally matched for the warrior group.

Why They Must Go

First, the team understands precisely where to proceed after a violent first encounter with the enemy group.

Casimir of Thjazi—whose death started the narrative’s action—exploited the foes for his personal gain, invading Thjazi’s hideout, attacking the rogue, and swiping all the magical artifacts to dispose of.

The antagonist then paid off his liabilities and fled to a secure base in Gormalay, Timmony, north of the urban center, with Cyd hot on his heels.

Character Drivers

Secondly, each member has a specific drive to exit the metropolitan area:

  • The rogue, as the companion and trusted friend, wants revenge.
  • The knowledgeable figure knows Timmony and cautions that it is a dangerous place.
  • Tyranny and The cleric, having resisted his family’s wishes to eliminate Teor and instead saved him, have no safe haven.
  • Yet, their reputation as important members in House Halovar could assist the party enter areas they typically wouldn’t be able to.
  • Furthermore, The grateful character vowed a unbreakable promise to The savior for his deliverance and will now go with him everywhere.

Pursued by Authorities

Lastly, all of them are sought by the rulers that control the setting for a multiple motives, making lingering locally dangerous:

  • The rogue and The hero are known criminals.
  • Tyranny and Wicander betrayed the influential house and the legion of demons they are aligned with.
  • The fighter is wanted dead by the clan.

This leaves them no alternative but to travel to the remote area in search of the antagonist.

Future Episodes

Based on the recent installment’s post-show segment, we learn that the combat party won’t be around in the upcoming installment, leaving the remaining eight cast members to form the Explorers and Planners tables.

Viewers can anticipate finding out which players will be where in Campaign 4’s concluding setup installment, available to watch on October 24.
